This quest is challenging, as the dragon is very strong in comparison to other enemies and bosses. I have a Wizard character build, but I found use of staffs and wands to not be very effective with this quest. I’ve read that many people use parrying to counter the dragon’s damage, but I found I had to move very quickly as the dragon moves around a lot, and used a different method for getting through this quest. I built an altar right beside this quest, so that I could fast travel to my main base to get more supplies, as the quest took me a few times before I was successful.
Here’s some tips when handling this quest:
Make sure to have and make use of the buffs (food, drink, elixir, etc)
Craft a bunch of health potions (I went through a lot!)
Craft a bunch of Stun Arrows (I made about 150), Make sure you have a upgraded bow equipped. Make sure you have a high damage melee weapon as well.
Be prepared for a lot of kiting, you can use the surrounding mountain ridges for a bit of cover to do a quick heal if needed. Just don’t travel too far from the dragon’s circle.
Stun the dragon as fast as you can with Stun Arrows. Once the dragon drops down, use an upgraded Melee weapon to inflict damage. I used a Battering Ram Hammer. I found that the spells I had were not effective enough.
The only way I was able to cause decent amounts of damage was while the Dragon was stunned.
