Potion Shop Simulator is available on Steam and developed by Pebbles Games. In a medieval fantasy world setting, you learn to craft potions, haggle with the customers to improve profits, and improve your shop. You gather plants that you find around the map, or purchase items for crafting from the alchemist.
Here’s my review after 9 hours of game play:
The characters are interesting, the visuals are nice, the quests are fun and engaging. I was quickly motivated to try to improve my shop and discover the new potions and customers. The crafting area in the shop is upstairs, which will cause you to run up and down the stairs many times in a day to check on the shop while still making potions. Adding in the magic gnomes to help with the mundane tasks was one of the first things I did. I was thankfully to get rid of those tasks! At the beginning of the game you spend much of the time cleaning the floor and prepping the potion ingredients. It becomes repetitive pretty quickly, but if you typically play simulation games, then you will be used to this type of game play. The map doesn’t seem overly filled with resources, but you can purchase the plants to grow at your shop, which is convenient. The game can be played single player or multiplayer (co-op). I’ve only played single player so far, but this seems like it would be fun with other players.
This is a good game for those who like simulation, fantasy world elements and want a more casual gaming experience.
I’ve given this a 3/5 star rating as the game can be repetitive. I had to mute the music early on as it lacks variety. As of June 2025 the game doesn’t feel finished yet, it plays as an early release, yet isn’t listed as so. Hopefully we see some updates in the future. Overall the game is engaging with crafting new potions and adding new elements to your shop.
